HOW IT WORKS

Botulinum toxin type A blocks acetylcholine release at the neuromuscular junction, temporarily preventing specific muscles from contracting. Treated muscles relax over 10–14 days. Overlying skin smooths as the repetitive folding motion stops. Clinical studies show results last an average of 3–4 months at first and can extend to 5–6 months with consistent maintenance as the muscle gradually weakens with disuse.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The appointment takes 20–30 minutes, including the assessment. Fine-gauge needles are used; most patients find the injections mildly uncomfortable at most. No anaesthesia is needed. You leave looking exactly as you arrived — results appear gradually over the following two weeks, not immediately.

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

– Avoid alcohol 24 hours before
– Stop blood-thinning supplements (aspirin, fish oil, vitamin E) 5–7 days before if possible
– Come with a clean face

AFTER YOUR TREATMENT

– Stay upright for 4 hours post-injection
– Do not rub or massage the treated area for 24 hours
– No strenuous exercise or heat exposure (sauna, steam room) for 24 hours
– Do not lie face-down for 4 hours
