Before Treatment

Pre-procedure
instructions

What to do — and avoid — in the days and hours leading up to your Botox appointment at House of Skincare.

01
Stay well hydrated
Drink plenty of water in the 24 hours before your appointment to support skin health and recovery.
02
Arrive with a clean face
Come with no makeup, creams, or sunscreen on the treatment area so we can begin immediately.
03
Share your medical history
Inform us of any medications, supplements, bleeding disorders, or allergies during your consultation.
04
Eat a light meal beforehand
Having food before your appointment helps prevent lightheadedness and keeps you comfortable.
05
Ask all your questions
Our team is here to answer every concern — there are no wrong questions before your treatment.
01
Blood-thinning medications
Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, and NSAIDs for at least 7 days before treatment to minimise bruising risk.
02
Alcohol (24 hours before)
Do not consume alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment — it increases bruising and swelling.
03
Fish oil, vitamin E & supplements
Pause these 7–10 days before treatment as they thin the blood. Always consult your doctor first.
04
Strenuous exercise on the day
Avoid intense workouts on the day of your treatment — elevated heart rate can increase bruising.
05
Facial treatments within 2 weeks
Avoid chemical peels, laser, or microneedling in the 2 weeks before your Botox appointment.
After Treatment

Post-procedure
care

How to care for your skin in the hours and days following your Botox treatment for the best outcome.

01
Keep your head upright for 4 hours
Stay upright and avoid bending or lying down for at least 4 hours post-treatment to allow Botox to settle.
02
Apply gentle cold compresses
If there is localised swelling, a cool (not ice) compress can be applied for short intervals.
03
Apply SPF 50 daily
Protect treated skin from UV exposure every day — sunscreen is essential for maintaining results.
04
Continue your gentle skincare routine
Cleansers and moisturisers are fine — keep it simple and gentle for the first 48 hours.
05
Contact us with any concerns
Questions after 2 weeks? Call 02 657 1000 — we are always here for you.
01
Touch or rub the treated area
Pressing or massaging for at least 24 hours can cause Botox to migrate to unintended muscles.
02
Heat exposure for 48 hours
Avoid saunas, steam rooms, hot showers, or direct sun. Heat increases swelling and bruising.
03
Strenuous exercise for 24 hours
Avoid intense activity for 24 hours post-treatment — it raises blood pressure and risks bruising.
04
Active skincare for 24 hours
Avoid retinoids, acids, exfoliants, and vitamin C serums on the treatment area for the first 24 hours.
05
Alcohol for 24 hours
Alcohol after treatment increases bruising risk and can slow the settling of your results.
