How BTL Exilis Works

The BTL Exilis handpiece delivers two forms of energy simultaneously through direct skin contact:

Radiofrequency (RF) energy heats the dermis and subdermis to 40–45°C. Within this temperature window, existing collagen fibres contract and fibroblasts activate to produce new collagen and elastin. Over the weeks following each session, the dermal matrix thickens and the skin becomes visibly firmer. This is the mechanism behind the facial tightening and body skin improvement seen after a full Exilis course.

Focused ultrasound energy penetrates to the subcutaneous fat layer, below the dermis. The acoustic energy mechanically disrupts adipocyte (fat cell) membranes, releasing intracellular lipids into the interstitial space. The lymphatic system then gradually clears these lipids over eight to twelve weeks. Studies report up to 1.5 cm circumferential reduction in treated body areas after a completed course — results that continue to develop in the months after the final session.

What BTL Exilis Treats

Sessions, Downtime, and Results

The standard course for facial treatment is four sessions, one week apart. For body areas, four to six sessions at weekly intervals. Each session takes 30 to 60 minutes depending on the number of areas treated. The sensation throughout is a deep, sustained warmth — most patients describe it as pleasant. The handpiece moves continuously so no area overheats. No anaesthesia is required and there is no downtime; you can return to all normal activities immediately.

Some skin tightening is visible after the first one to two sessions. The main result develops progressively over the two to three months following the final session as collagen matures and lymphatic clearance of disrupted fat completes. Preparation and Aftercare

Before: Stay well-hydrated in the days before each session — tissue hydration improves energy conductivity and results. No special skin preparation is required. Disclose any metal implants, pacemakers, or recent injectables in the treatment area.

After: Maintain good hydration to support lymphatic clearance. Avoid vigorous exercise on the day of treatment. Continue your normal diet — weight gain will reduce body contouring results. Results continue developing for eight to twelve weeks after each session.
