DERMATOLOGICAL SURGERY IN ABU DHABI
Not every skin condition can be resolved with topical treatment or energy-based devices. Some lesions must be physically removed — either for diagnostic purposes (biopsy), therapeutic purposes (excision of malignant or pre-malignant tissue), or cosmetic purposes (removal of benign but bothersome growths). Dermatological surgery at House of Skincare is performed in-clinic under local anaesthesia by Dr. Khadija Al Zaabi, a DHA-licensed Consultant Dermatologist with over 21 years of clinical experience.
WHY HOUSE OF SKINCARE FOR DERMATOLOGICAL SURGERY
All dermatological surgical procedures at House of Skincare are performed by a physician with both dermatological and surgical training. The assessment, planning, execution, and follow-up are unified under one clinician — there is no referral chain, no information loss between a diagnosing doctor and a separate surgical team. Dr. Al Zaabi assesses the lesion, plans the excision, performs the procedure, and reviews the histology results herself.
PROCEDURES OFFERED
Skin lesion excision: Surgical removal of moles, cysts, lipomas, dermatofibromas, and other benign or suspicious lesions with clean margins. Specimen sent for histological analysis when indicated.
Punch biopsy: Removal of a 2–6 mm core sample of skin for laboratory analysis — used to diagnose inflammatory conditions, unusual rashes, or suspicious lesions that cannot be diagnosed clinically.
Shave excision: Removal of raised benign lesions (seborrhoeic keratoses, dermal naevi, skin tags, small fibromas) at the skin surface level without full-depth incision.
Curettage and cautery: Scraping removal of superficial lesions (seborrhoeic keratoses, warts, superficial BCCs) with electrical cautery to control bleeding and treat the base.
Cryotherapy: Targeted application of liquid nitrogen to destroy superficial benign lesions, warts, and actinic keratoses.
Intralesional injections: Corticosteroid injection directly into hypertrophic scars, keloids, or inflammatory nodules (cystic acne) to reduce inflammation and volume.
WHAT TO EXPECT
All surgical procedures are performed under local anaesthesia — you are awake and the area is fully numb. The procedure itself is typically quick (15–45 minutes). You leave the clinic with a dressing and written aftercare instructions. Sutures, if used, are removed in clinic 5–14 days later depending on the location and wound type.
