Profhilo in Abu Dhabi
Profhilo in Abu Dhabi at House of Skincare is a bio-remodelling injection treatment that addresses skin laxity, dehydration, and loss of firmness using one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid available in any injectable product. Unlike dermal fillers, which add volume to specific areas, Profhilo spreads through the tissue and stimulates collagen and elastin production across a broad surface area. Dr. Khadija Al Zaabi, DOH-licensed Consultant Dermatologist at House of Skincare on Yas Island, uses Profhilo for patients who want improved skin quality and firmness — particularly in the face, neck, and hands — without adding structural volume.
Profhilo contains 64 mg of hyaluronic acid per 2 ml syringe — significantly higher than standard HA skin boosters. It is manufactured without BDDE (butanediol diglycidyl ether), the cross-linking agent used in most HA fillers. Instead, it uses a patented thermal stabilisation process called NAHYCO Technology that creates a hybrid cooperative complex of high molecular weight (HMW) and low molecular weight (LMW) hyaluronic acid chains. This structure gives Profhilo a unique physical behaviour in tissue: it flows and spreads through the dermis rather than staying localised, stimulating multiple cell receptors across a large surface area from a small number of injection points.
Why House of Skincare?
House of Skincare is a specialist dermatology and aesthetic clinic on Yas Island, rated 4.9 stars by over 490 patients on Google. Dr. Al Zaabi holds a DOH licence as a Consultant Dermatologist and has extensive experience with the BAP (Bio Aesthetic Points) injection technique used for Profhilo. The BAP technique places Profhilo at five anatomically defined points on each side of the face — selected to avoid blood vessels, nerves, and parotid tissue while achieving maximum product spread. Correct placement of Profhilo is not the same as standard filler technique, and the outcomes reflect the precision of injection placement.
How Profhilo Works
Hydration from within: The low molecular weight HA component absorbs into the dermis quickly and binds water in the tissue, creating deep dermal hydration that is visible within days of the first session. This hydration plumps the skin from within and improves the surface glow significantly.
Collagen and elastin stimulation: The high molecular weight HA component activates receptors on fibroblasts (the cells that produce collagen) and keratinocytes. In clinical studies, Profhilo has been shown to stimulate collagen types I, III, and IV as well as elastin. Over four weeks following injection, measurable increases in dermal collagen and elastin content have been documented on histology in treated tissue.
Skin bio-remodelling: Unlike fillers that project tissue or lift a structure, Profhilo remodels the quality of the skin itself — improving its firmness, elasticity, and hydration across the treated area from within the tissue. The result looks like healthier, younger skin rather than a structural change.
Treatment Areas
Face: The face is the primary indication. The BAP technique places 1 ml at five points on each side — along the cheekbone, jowl, and mid-face — from which Profhilo spreads through the dermis to treat the full facial surface. The results are most visible in the cheek, lower face, and perioral area, where skin crepiness and laxity typically present first.
Neck and décolletage: The neck and chest are areas that age rapidly and are often neglected in treatment planning. Profhilo is injected into the neck using a modified point pattern and spreads through the thin neck skin to improve hydration and firmness. The décolletage responds similarly with a simple grid injection pattern.
Hands: Dorsal hand skin thins and dehydrates with age, making veins and tendons more prominent. Profhilo injected into the dorsal hand skin improves hydration and dermal thickness, softening the aged appearance of the hands with no risk of unnatural lumpiness.
Arms and knees: Crepiness on the inner upper arms and around the knees is difficult to address without surgery. Profhilo provides a non-surgical improvement in skin quality in these areas through the same bio-remodelling mechanism.
The Procedure
A facial Profhilo session takes fifteen to twenty minutes. Topical numbing cream is applied for fifteen minutes before injection. The 2 ml syringe is divided across the ten BAP points (five per side) using a fine needle. The product spreads from each injection point to cover the surrounding area. Immediately after injection there are small bumps at the injection sites that resolve within thirty to sixty minutes as the product spreads. There is no significant downtime. Most patients look slightly flushed for a few hours after treatment.
Sessions and Results
The standard Profhilo protocol is two sessions spaced one month apart. This initial two-session course produces the primary collagen remodelling stimulus. Results peak at four to six weeks after the second session. Most patients then maintain with a single session every six to nine months. The results are cumulative — skin quality continues to improve and is sustained with regular maintenance.
Hydration improvement is visible within twenty-four to forty-eight hours of the first session. Firmness and elasticity improvements develop over four to six weeks as collagen and elastin synthesis occurs. The overall result is natural: the skin looks healthier and more rested, without looking altered.
Aftercare
For twenty-four hours after treatment, avoid applying makeup, touching the injection sites, strenuous exercise, saunas, and steam rooms. Avoid alcohol for twenty-four hours as it increases bruising risk. Apply SPF 50 the morning after treatment. Do not massage or manipulate the injection sites in the first twenty-four hours, as this can displace the product from the BAP distribution points before it has set into the tissue.
Profhilo vs. Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are volumising agents placed at specific anatomical points to create projection, restore lost volume, or define a feature. Profhilo is not a volumising treatment — it will not lift a flat cheek or fill a deep nasolabial fold. Instead, it improves the quality and health of the skin across a broad area. Many patients benefit from both: a filler for structural restoration and Profhilo for overall skin quality improvement. Dr. Al Zaabi will discuss which combination is appropriate for your goals at consultation.
